RATIOS, RATES, AND PROPORTIONS

What if you could give your students a powerful strategy for solving word problems? Students will find one in this Squared Away unit where they use what they already know about equivalent fractions to understand ratios and proportions. In a relatively short period of time, students learn to confidently tackle challenging word problems that involve ratios, unit rates, and those dealing with time, rate, and distance. They have to not only calculate answers, but also explain their thinking and validate their solutions.
