One inset on the left side of the map shows routes of the Triangle Trade, and the other shows where and how many African slaves were transported between 1400 and 1800. The right side of the map uses symbols to show where slaves worked in the British colonies (households, workshops, merchant ships, small farms, rice plantations, tobacco plantations, and indigo plantations), and displays routes by which slaves were brought from Africa and the West Indies to the colonies.
