Stories help adolescents grasp not only how events happened, but what those events meant to the people involved.
This anthology of 27 outstanding short stories by Holocaust survivors and contemporary writers including Ida Fink, Bernard Gotfryd, Cynthia Ozick, Kurt Vonnegut, and Elie Wiesel. The stories, organized chronologically and thematically, are supported by a separate 507-page teacher’s guide that generally supplies two essays for each short story: one providing historical context and literary analysis, the other offering a master teacher’s pedagogic guidance for using the story in the classroom.
