An introductory essay and activities examine the five themes of geography through the history, traditions, and folklore of the Hopi.
Suggested activities (grouped by geographic theme) include drawing inferences about Hopi living sites from myths and maps; examining the importance of corn in Hopi culture as a marker of birth, marriage, and death; and tracing the movement of peoples from the Anasazi to the contemporary Hopi. Activities require teacher and student access to the Internet and additional materials on the Hopi.
