THE INQUIRY ARC IN U.S. HISTORY

Each unit follows the four dimensions of the inquiry arc and includes:

• an overarching question;
• a contextual background essay; and
• approximately ten primary sources.

Student handouts guide learners through source analysis from four disciplinary perspectives—historical, geographical, civic, and economic—and include targeted questions for each lens.

Five optional summative activities at the end of every unit encourage students to take what they’ve learned and apply it to real-world challenges, using evidence to support their conclusions and civic reasoning to shape their responses.
