Combining audio narration, maps, indigenous sounds and music, and beautiful full-color photographs, this CD-ROM takes users on a journey of enlightenment as it examines the peoples who live along the Silk Road, their religions, their languages, the road's history, the exploits of those who have explored it, and the Silk Road region in modern times.
Along the way, users can engage in a number of interactive onscreen activities, such as building a Kirghiz yurt, trying to decipher the body language of other cultures, or experimenting with a “Life Simulator” that illustrates Buddhist beliefs about death and reincarnation. Finally, students can enter “Dunhuang University” and tackle multiple-choice quizzes that review the program’s information.
