In this standards-based simulation, students work in cooperative groups to research four views on war: pacifism (rejection of war), just wars (fighting for moral principles), political realism (fighting for national interests), and holy wars (missions for God).
After becoming "experts" on their view, students mount a talk show, role-playing the host, panelists, or audience members. The simulation includes a case study of Bosnia requiring students, based on their ethical views, to recommend action to the U.S. president. The 91-page simulation offers complete setup directions and daily directions (with sidebar teaching tips), reproducible handouts and worksheets, model scripts, audience questions, and teacher resources. Players: entire class. Time: 5–10 hours.
