WORLD POPULATION

This six-minute program uses dots of light appearing on a map of the world to indicate the overwhelming increase in world population throughout time. With each dot representing one million people, the animated “video graph” illustrates population growth from 1 AD to the present and projects future growth to the year 2030, dramatically demonstrating the explosive growth that has overtaken the world in the past two centuries. Historic references at the corner of the screen place population changes in context as the years tick away. Includes a teacher’s guide with discussion questions and activities.
