WRITING FOR RESULTS

Presented from a student’s point of view, this lively program builds a rationale for the necessity of writing in any profession and outlines how to do it well. The dramatization centers on a female student who considers writing a term paper irrelevant. Her teacher takes her to visit a lawyer, a chemist, a doctor, an economist, a baseball scout, and a corporation president, all of whom describe the reports they write. Back in the classroom, the teacher details ten steps of effective writing. Points include understanding the audience and purpose of the report, selecting topics, researching, organizing ideas, writing, revising, and presentation. Grades 7–12. Color. 30 minutes.
