ENCHANTED CASTLE

By completing activities at one of two skill levels—involving comparing and contrasting, plot and structure, style, characterization, vocabulary, and story morals—and a Fairy Tale Express Ticket, they demonstrate their understanding of the imaginative literature. When they reach their destination, they create their own fairy-tale plays, which they then stage and perform for visitors on a culminating on Enchanted Castle day. The teacher’s guide contains procedures, handout masters, and assessments, while student guides include procedures, sample maps and tickets, and an overview of fairy tales. Teaching each “cycle” of fairy tales takes about two class periods; total time depends on the number of cycles.
