In pairs or individually, students travel with Stop the Watchdog through four "zones" that teach students about the history of telling time; military time and meridians; daylight savings, seasons, and solstices; and time zones.
Familiar characters such as Cinderella, Goldilocks, the Little Red Hen, and the Gingerbread Man serve as the basis for activities involving sequencing, clockwise and counterclockwise, quarter- and half-hours, and counting by fives. The 141-page teacher’s guide provides complete procedures, background essays, and all handout masters, including mini-storybooks for each children’s story. The full simulation runs for 12 class periods, though nearly all activities may stand alone.
