WOMEN WIN THE VOTE

After selecting an activist and conducting research using primary and secondary sources, students share their knowledge in a lively discussion forum and develop a timeline of important people and events. Students prepare written and visual materials and persuasive speeches that they deliver at the Women’s Suffrage Convention, which concludes with a reading of and vote on the Nineteenth Amendment. In an optional culmination, groups present original theater skits, create television interviews for "Voting Rights Around the World" or portray wax figures in the Women’s Suffrage Museum. Total time: up to 10 hours.
